I cannot necessarily see how it would be incorporated into a lesson but this would be a fun one to have on the troubpe in the classroom library! However, there is plenty of mayhem, twists and turns along the way. Polly Dunbar’s illustrations support the text well, with clear characterisation and a wonderful array of facial expressions. This was such a fun poem, with all the wonderful word pairings and the strong rhythmic lines.

As fun as this story is – I would not recommend it as a read-out-loud for a large groups – the words are slippery and at times confusing. I’m thinking this will be a definite hit for a group with older kids. Still, I had them tell me ideas for how to save the baby and they were a bit more into the book by the end because of that.
